Overview
Netherlands is in the Europe hantavirus context. The country has documented circulation of SEOV, PUUV (Seoul virus, Puumala virus).
Puumala virus is endemic in the Netherlands; in 2015 Seoul hantavirus was additionally documented for the first time in wild brown rats (Rattus norvegicus) in the eastern Netherlands. Tula virus has also been detected in voles.
