Overview
China is in the Asia hantavirus context. The country has documented circulation of SEOV, HTNV (Seoul virus, Hantaan virus).
China reports the largest absolute HFRS burden of any country — roughly 90% of the global case total. Both Hantaan virus (Apodemus agrarius) and Seoul virus (Rattus norvegicus) circulate, with surveillance reporting concentrated in Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Hubei and Yunnan provinces. An inactivated bivalent Hantaan/Seoul vaccine is in routine use.
