Overview
Venezuela is in the Americas hantavirus context. There is no major endemic hantavirus strain in this curated dataset; the country may still record imported cases.
Two indigenous hantaviruses are documented in Venezuelan rodents: Maporal virus (in the delicate pygmy rice rat, Oligoryzomys delicatus) and Caño Delgadito virus (in Alston's cotton rat, Sigmodon alstoni), both first characterised on Hato Maporal farm, Portuguesa State. Country-specific human-disease attribution remains limited.
